Welcome to the project website for Solarig’s proposals for a 90MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure on Storage Land at The Woodlands, South Hetton, DH6 2RX, southeast of the Hawthorn pit substation.

The project team held a community exhibition on Wednesday 19th February 2025 between 4pm and 7pm at the Robin Todd Community Centre, South Hetton. The information banners displayed at the exhibition can be downloaded, here.

The planning application has now been submitted and validated, the reference number is DM/25/01835/FPA.
